Radcliffe Construction, the Huddersfield based construction project management firm, has been appointed by indoor climbing specialist, FreekLime, to support the opening of the brand’s third climbing centre as it aims to grow turnover to £3million by 2030.

Radcliffe will oversee taking the specification and scope for the design and build of FreekLime’s new, 6,000 square foot site in Lincoln through RIBA stages zero to seven, along with the design and construction of the back of house operational and changing facilities.

Chris Whitehead, founder and managing director at FreekLime, said: “Our mission at FreekLime is to become the number one indoor climbing brand in the UK by making climbing accessible regardless of age, gender, or ability. My goal is to have five profitable sites by 2030 with a turnover between £2.5million to £3million.

“Radcliffe Construction helped us build fantastic facilities at our Huddersfield and York sites that now attract around 100,000 climbers each year, and we are delighted to be partnering with them again for the development of our third site in Lincoln.

John Verrier, director at Radcliffe Construction, said: “We are working closely with Chris and other contractors to project manage the design and build through all the RIBA stages. This began with strategic definition to assess project viability before moving on to planning drawing packs working with Martin Walsh Architectural and then liaising with local authorities to obtain building regulations approval.

“FreekLime is one of the country’s fastest-growing indoor climbing centres, and we are delighted to be on the journey with Chris and his team as they push for further growth. We’ll now guide the project right through to RIBA stage 7 – when the building is in use – including project managing areas such as spatial coordination and planning, technical design, and construction.”
